For founders
You have the idea. We build it.
Got a great idea, but no money to build it? Then we can build the first version for you – without you paying for the development. Instead, we get equity in your company, usually 10–30%.
Why equity
We take the leap together with you.
Most agencies send an invoice. We'd rather become co-owners – with just as much reason as you to see the idea succeed.
-
No invoice for development
You don't pay for designing and building the first version. The money you have can go to customers and marketing instead.
-
We win when you win
As co-owners, we only make money if your company succeeds. So we build something that actually works.
-
A whole product team
You get design, development and launch from the people who made Knips and Bjørni – people who care about the product, not just the hours.
How it works
From idea to product in five steps.
Anyone can submit an idea. We read everything and reply to everyone – even when the answer is no.
-
01
Submit your idea
Tell us briefly what you want to build, and who it's for. It only takes a couple of minutes.
-
02
We have a chat
A no-obligation meeting – on video or in Bergen – where we go through the idea, the market and what the first version needs to do.
-
03
The agreement is signed
If we believe in it, we propose an equity stake and what we'll deliver. Everything goes into a shareholder agreement before we begin.
-
04
We build
We design and build the first version, with demos along the way. You spend your time on customers, sales and funding.
-
05
Launch – and beyond
We launch, learn from users and make the product better. As co-owners, we're in it for the long run.
Equity
10–30%
Usually – depending on how much needs to be built.
What does equity mean?
Instead of paying for the development, your company gives us shares. How big the stake is depends on how much needs to be built, how far you've come and how much risk we take on. We agree before we start – and everything goes into a shareholder agreement.
- You remain the majority owner
- The company owns everything we make
- Everything is agreed in writing before we start
- We stay on board as co-owners
Is it right for you?
Honestly: not for everyone.
Equity is a good deal for some – and an expensive one for others. Here's how to tell which fits you.
A good fit if you …
- have an idea for an app, a website or a platform
- know the problem well – ideally from your own experience
- want to build a company and work on the idea over time
- have a limited company (AS), or are ready to start one
Less of a fit if you …
- can afford to pay and want to own everything yourself
- need a simple website for a business that's already up and running
- want to sell the idea on rather than build it
Then a regular project is cheaper for you in the long run. See our services.
FAQ
What founders ask us.
Can't find the answer here? Send us your idea or get in touch, and we'll reply.
Do I need a limited company (AS)?
Yes – our stake is shares in the company. If you don't have an AS yet, that's fine: it can be set up once we've agreed to work together. A Norwegian AS needs at least NOK 30,000 in share capital, which the company can use for its own expenses.
What does it cost me?
Nothing for designing and building the first version. External costs, such as domains, servers and developer accounts with Apple and Google, are paid by the company – usually small amounts at the start.
What if someone steals my idea?
We treat everything you send us as confidential, and we're happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement before we get into the details.
Who owns the code?
Your company. Everything we make in the project – code, design and rights – belongs to the company we become co-owners of.
What happens if it doesn't work out?
Then you haven't lost money on development – that's the risk we take. The agreement sets out what happens if someone wants out, or if you decide to wind things down.
How long does it take?
The first version usually takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on how much needs to be in place. We make a timeline together before we start.
Do you say yes to every idea?
We read every idea and reply to everyone, but we can't build everything. We say yes to the ideas we believe in most – and we're happy to give you honest feedback either way.
